Crystal Photography: Herkimer Diamonds

These beautiful stones are actually a specialty type of clear quartz, only found in Herkimer County, USA. They are clearer and denser than most quartz in the world, and have minimum carbon deposits. This means that there is minimal black spots within it, and is a good way to differentiate between Herkimer diamonds and other diamond quartzes. There is many other diamond quartzes in the world, some from Tibet, and plenty from Afghanistan.
