How amazing is this? This is an amazing piece of Viking jewellery, created from carnelian beads. It was actually found in a cremation site, which is why it is all white... when burnt, carnelian will turn a dusty white.

Clearly, carnelian had significance to the Vikings, especially Viking women. This really isn't surprising given that carnelian is a goddess stone, and used for courage, boldness and motivation for women. This is just one of the amazing pieces on exhibition at the Melbourne Museum. We will be bringing you more in the upcoming days.
