Fakebusters: Peridot

Once again the internet has me scratching my head about the various ways crystals are faked and how in the hell they thought they were gonna pull it off. We are going to take a look at peridot.

This stone has no clarity, it is far too large, has the completely wrong type of matrix and it is all just WRONG! It is not even peridot in matrix, although the colour is almost right!

So this one has clarity, however it is definitely the wrong colour, being a forest green rather than the lime green of peridot. Also this is still far too large for natural peridot (unless it has a sky high price!)

This fake may be smaller, and it may be a different colour, but it is still far too dark green.

This fake does have a closer colour to natural peridot, but has absolutely no clarity. It is also tpp large and with no variation. Once again it would have to have a sky high price to be real peridot.
