Fakebusters: Strawberry Quartz/ Obsidian

This oddly coloured piece is a prime example of what is hitting the market under the name strawberry quartz or strawberry obsidian. In truth it is neither. This is a manmade glass with some colour stirred through it, giving it a hazy pink colour. Natural strawberry quartz is coloured by a hematite compound and natural strawberry obsidian does not exist. I have even seen this called rhodonite!
